Biography

Dr Steve Ingham is a performance scientist, keynote speaker and author who has spent more than two decades helping individuals, teams and organisations achieve sustained high performance. Best known for his work with Team GB and Paralympics GB, Steve combines scientific expertise with real-world experience to help organisations achieve outstanding performance.

Steve began his career at the British Olympic Association before joining the English Institute of Sport, where he became Director of Science and Technical Development. Leading a team of more than 200 specialists supporting Team GB and Paralympics GB, he played a key role in developing the performance systems that helped athletes and coaches succeed on the world stage. Holding both a BSc and a PhD, and as a Fellow of the British Association of Sport & Exercise Sciences, Steve combines academic rigour with practical experience gained in some of the world’s highest-pressure environments. He is also the author of How to Support a Champion and The First Hurdle.

Ahead of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Steve worked alongside Olympic Gold Medallist Ben Hunt-Davis as part of the performance team behind the Men’s Eight, helping develop the principles that inspired the question, “Will It Make The Boat Go Faster?” He later applied these performance principles across four Olympic cycles before taking his expertise internationally, advising the French Government’s sports agency, Gagner en France, on preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Today Steve helps organisations translate elite performance into everyday business practice. His engaging keynote combines compelling Olympic stories with practical performance principles for leadership, teamwork and sustained high performance. Focusing on prioritisation, continuous improvement and the small changes that create the biggest impact, Steve leaves audiences with practical tools they can immediately apply within their own organisations.
