Jim Hagemann Snabe is a Danish business leader and author who is currently Chairman of Siemens AG. He sits on the board of several major global companies, including Temasek Holding, C3.ai, Bloom Energy, and Urban Partners, and has been a Member of the Board of Trustees at the World Economic Forum (WEF) since 2014. He is also a Member of the Global Advisory Board of Deutsche Bank, a Member of the European Round Table of Industrialists (ERT), and a Fellow of the Society for Progress at INSEAD. Based in Cambridge, UK, he is recognised for his long-standing commitment to innovation, sustainability, and societal progress.
In 2017 he co-authored Dreams and Details: Reinvent Your Business and Your Leadership from a Position of Strength, a call to arms for business leaders to embrace sustainability, innovation and change in order to reap greater productivity and profit. He later co-authored Tech for Life – Putting Trust Back in Technology and Reinvention from the Boardroom.
Prior to assuming his current role at Siemens AG, Jim Hagemann Snabe held several positions at the German software multinational SAP, including that of co-CEO. During his tenure at SAP (2010–2014), he and fellow CEO Bill McDermott doubled the value of the company and repositioned it towards a more responsible role in society. In 2013, Hagemann Snabe and McDermott were ranked second on Glassdoor’s highest-rated CEOs, with an approval rate of 99% from SAP employees.
His previous leadership roles also include serving as Chairman of A.P. Moller–Maersk (2017–2022) and Vice Chairman of Allianz SE (2014–2021). He has also held roles at Northvolt. His 25 years of experience in the technology industry make Hagemann Snabe an experienced player in the spheres of leadership around innovation, digitisation, decarbonization and social progress. As Chairman of Maersk and Siemens, he led the re-invention of major global companies from the boardroom.
In his capacity as a global business leader, Jim is involved in activities focused on societal progress, decarbonization and the role of business in society. His views on leadership are shaped by his commitment to solving societal issues and his trust in human potential.
Since 2016, Jim Hagemann Snabe has been Adjunct Professor at the Copenhagen Business School, where he focuses on digital transformation and its impact on business and society. His career began after receiving a master’s degree in operational research from the Aarhus School of Business in Denmark.
