Biography

Sandrine Dixson-Decleve is an environmental scientist, policy specialist, strategist, solutionist, professor and a sought after motivational speaker. She is an expert in complex systems analysis, international and European climate, energy, sustainable development, social and environmental tipping points, social equity, sustainable finance policy development and implementation. As a motivational speaker, she has been praised for bringing authenticity, depth and rigour, yet making complex topics relatable and for captivating audiences with her unique speaking style.

During her career spanning over 35 years she has worked with business, academic, government and non-profit leaders around the world to unpack complex challenges and translate science and theories of change into policy and action. Among others, she has advised and worked with His Magesty King Charles III, Members of the European Parliament, the European Commission’s President, Commissioners and officials, international organizations (such as the United Nations, OPEC, the OECD, the ADB IEA), government agencies such as USAID, and multiple governments in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Over the years, Sandrine was been recognized by various influential organizations. Most recently, she was awarded the Aenne Burda award for creative leadership in 2024. She has been named as one of the “top 50 woman over 50” leading on climate by Forbes, as one of the 30 most influential women across the globe driving change in the low carbon economy by GreenBiz, and as one of 25 global female trailblazers by Reuters.
Sandrine is the Honorary President and Global Ambassador for the Club of Rome, leads the global initiative Earth for All as its Executive Chair and is co-Chair and co-Founder of the System Transformation Hub launched in 2024.

She currently sits on multiple Non Executive Boards and Advisory Boards including EDP, BMW, UCB, Eurazeo Planetary Boundaries Fund, Leonardo Centre-Imperial College London, Skysun and Climate KIC. She is a Commissioner for the Climate Governance Commission and for the WHO Pan-European Commission on Climate & Health, an Ambassador for the Energy Transition Commission and the Well Being Alliance and a Fellow of the World Academy of Science & Art. She also teaches at the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium and is a Fellow and faculty member of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. Recent roles include President of the Club of Rome from 2018 to 2024 and Chair of the European Commission Expert Group on Economic and Societal Impact of Research & Innovation (ESIR) between 2019 and 2023.

Sandrine has spoken at hundreds of conferences across the globe and has published numerous books, reports, articles, and opinion editorials. She is a TED Global and TEDx speaker and author of the acclaimed book “Earth for All: A survival guide for humanity” which has been translated in 10 languages. A dual US and Belgian national, Sandrine holds an MSc in Environmental Sciences from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and two BA degrees in International Relations and in French from the University of California at Davis.
