Rich Heimann – Keynote Speaker

Richard Heimann is Chief AI Officer at Cybraics Inc. Cybraics is a fully-managed cyber security company.

Founded in 2014, Cybraics commercialized many years of DARPA research performed on the Network Defense program. The goal of the Network Defense program was intrusion detection and distributed computation using unsupervised machine learning and behavioral analytics. Heimann was also a performer on DARPA’s Nexus 7 program (including remote support at ISAF attached to the 82nd Airborne Division) which won a Joint Meritorious Unit Award.

Heimann is the former Chief Data Scientist and Technical Fellow at L-3 National Security Solutions, former adjunct professor at University of Maryland where he taught computational statistics and statistical reasoning, and an instructor at George Mason University, where he taught computational social science.

Richard Heimann has co-authored a book on social media analytics and his new book titled Doing AI: A Business-Centric Examination of AI Culture, Goals, and Values is being released December 14th 2021. The book explores AI for what it is, the problems it can truly solve, what others want it to become. The book also explores what you as a business leader need AI to be —and what you don’t need it to be. Author Richard Heimann unravels the tricky relationship between problems and solutions, exploring the pitfalls in solution-centric management and explaining how businesses should rethink “AI” in a way that aligns with their cultures, goals, and values.
