Biography

An engineer, Nicolas Imbert has been working for more than 15 years on global issues related to climate change and sustainable economy. In 2011, he initiated the French-speaking branch of international Civil Society Organization (CSO) Green Cross, founded in 1993 by Mikhaïl Gorbatchev and chaired by Jean-Michel Cousteau. The Green Cross’ main role is to help with the decision-making process around climate resilience by proposing solutions to support the ecological transformation of our societies.

Prior to this position, Nicolas Imbert has worked for more than 10 years as a strategy and management consultant in global consulting firms such as Accenture, on subjects of ecological transition, sustainable development and sustainable cities.

He has contributed to the structuring of civil society proposals around climate conferences, sustainable cities, territorial resilience and environmental conflict prevention. He coordinates or takes part in various initiatives in the field of territorial foresight (sustainable cities, coastal economies, territories in transition), industry transition and cooperation around environmental and humanist issues, as well as economic issues and the governance of economic resilience.

Since 2021, he engaged the Green Cross in an advocacy, network and action program for better resilience, partnered with the solutions platform “EAU” (www.agireau.eu) which leverages a network of over 150 entities around 14 proposals co-designed in 2021 in Dunkirk along with the territories, economic partners and citizens.

Nicolas is the author of « Plaidoyer pour un monde (plus) durable », which can be translated to, “Advocacy for an unburdened future” (2022), targeting leaders and executives to help them understand, take action and “help heal” the planet.

He has contributed to the creation of several Think&Do Tanks (Institut de l’Economie Circulaire, Fabrique Ecologique, 99%…), as well as led territorial projects in France and the Pacific ((Dunkirk, Brittany, Porquerolles, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Réunion…). Nicolas has supported a number of initiatives for innovation, and set up geostrategic analysis and action plans for transition. He has also contributed to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Today, as a keynote speaker and strategic adviser, Nicolas Imbert shares green leadership insights, to help leaders build a more resilient world. He is also a lecturer at Institut Mines-Télécom, INSA (Lyon) and Ecoles Centrales.
