Michael Gunning is an international swimmer best known for the 200 metre butterfly event. He set national records for both Team GB and Team Jamaica. In 2018 he was awarded Sportsman of the year in Jamaica.
He is a recognised public figure in media and entertainment and an LGBT advocate. Michael is one of the few mixed race swimmers in a traditionally white sport and a global inclusivity champion.
Michael Gunning is a regular pundit and excellent speaker with a unique perspective. He was a host at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and is Speedo Athlete Ambassador for their campaign Swim United promoting access to swimming for all.
