Jenni is an international speaker, author, podcaster and business communications strategist. She has worked in communications for 20 years, specialising in helping teams and leaders use communication to take people (and the organisation) from chaos to calm.
Reaching Director level for a global pharmaceutical company, Jenni has also worked in the public sector, defence, advertising and retail and hospitality industries. Working with a remote workforce and running a global communications function for a FTSE250 business means Jenni has worked through most communication challenges in her career.
In 2017 Jenni set up Redefining Communications, a business consultancy specialising in communication, we will help you get to the root cause of things that are impacting organisational success. Redefining Communications works with leaders and teams in all types of organisations – including local entrepreneurs, government bodies, charities and global organisations.
Jenni firmly believes in giving back and sharing her expertise, bringing an optimistic outlook, energy and honesty. Jenni has been a well-respected thought-leader in the communications industry for years. She has led research into the communication challenges impacting organisations and in 2021 became a published author when Influential Internal Communication and The Field Report were printed.
Jenni has led several research projects to further the internal communication profession; In 2017 she led research into the value and impact of internal communication. In 2019 she carried out the only research into communication with deskless workers, repeating it in 2023 to see the impact of the pandemic on frontline teams.
Her research in 2021 explored the role of line managers to find out what they need to thrive inside organisations, especially in remote or hybrid environments and in 2023 she researched the different practices that make a leader credible. Her research went further to discover gender perspectives on the importance of the practices which was published in 2024. It’s this research that led to Jenni’s second book; Nobody Believes You – How to be a Leader People Will Follow which is due out in October 2024.
Jenni’s own podcast, Redefining Communications with Jenni Field, launched in 2021 and provides short 15-minute episodes focusing on different business topics and providing advice to help organisations go from chaos to calm.
Jenni has volunteered in the PR and Communications industry since 2012 with the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR). Serving as a Board Director for a number of years, Jenni was the President in 2020, leading them through significant change during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is a Chartered practitioner, a fellow of the CIPR and is qualified in internal communication. She is also a certified Company Director through the Institute of Directors and an accredited facilitator.
Jenni is an international speaker, having spoken in Canada, Germany, Slovenia, the UK and the USA – you’ll often find her either on stage or speaking virtually about credibility, communication, leadership and relationships at work.
Jenni is also one third of the Calm Edged Rebels, a lifestyle coaching membership and retreat business designed to help people live the best life for them. The trio (Jenni is joined by Advita Patel and Trudy Lewis) also has an award-winning podcast – Calm Edged Rebels.
Exploring the importance of people, leadership and communication at work, Jenni explores the foundations we need to consider as the world of work changes. Jenni coined the phrase, “the pandemic revolution”, in 2021 and believes we have to reimagine work and life to thrive in the future.
