Jane Frankland is an award-winning leader, author, and women’s activist in cybersecurity. She is recognised for her authority by Wikipedia and LinkedIn, is regularly featured as a top global influencer, and UNESCO has called her a trailblazing woman in tech. As the best-selling author of ‘IN Security: why a failure to attract and retain women in cybersecurity is causing us to be less safe’ (Rethink Press), Jane has become the world’s leading authority on this topic. Jane began her career in cybersecurity over two decades ago by building her own global ethical hacking consultancy.
Since selling it, she has worked in leadership roles for Fortune 500 and FTSE listed firms and contributed to leading industry accreditations, schemes, and initiatives. She has also served as an awards judge for the European Business Awards, Teen Tech Awards, NZ Hi-Tech Awards, Australian Woman in Security Awards, Cyber Security Awards (UK and Africa), SC Awards (UK & USA), and the Business Book Awards. Today, she continues to judge many of these awards, manage her company, and work as a board adviser to Black Hat Executive Summit (Europe), SC Magazine (UK), and several other firms. Believing the world will only be safer, happier, and more prosperous when there are more women in cybersecurity, she launched her IN Security Movement following the release of her book.
Jane Frankland has performed ground-breaking research, led initiatives to keep women safer at events, and in the past 4-years has awarded more than 352 scholarships to women, enabling further education – a value of over half a million US dollars. As a popular keynote speaker, Jane delivers inspiring, thought-provoking presentations across the world, at corporate events, as well as practitioner, academic and government conferences, including the EU Commission, UN Women, and Web Summit. Known for her ability to inspire, educate and chair inclusive conversations, her audiences comprise those in and outside of cybersecurity, and range from senior executives to those just starting their careers.
Jane Frankland’s speaking engagements focus on the work she does around gender diversity in tech, cybersecurity and sustainability, and the future of cybersecurity. She is regularly called upon to share her thought leadership and has been featured in the Sunday Times, The Financial Times, The Guardian, Forbes and industry press, and on the BBC’s The Longview, and Radio 4’s Today programme.
