Ian Hawkins has a reputation as a warm, inclusive moderator and a powerful speaker on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Change and Storytelling, Communication and Thought Leadership.
An author and business journalist whose work has appeared on CBS, Reuters and BBC World, Ian has hosted events in Europe, the USA and Australia, and coached Olympians, cabinet ministers and CEOs.
On leaving university, Ian Hawkins wrote for headline BBC comedy shows and honed his presentation skills on the stand up circuit, performing in Edinburgh and New York.
Ian is one of a “guinea pig generation” of adults born with a serious heart condition that had a 90% mortality rate and speaks about how being at the sharp end of innovation has shaped his life. His keynote presentations describe stories as “the software our brains run on” and give audiences the tools to overcome barriers to change for themselves and their organisations.
Ian moderates conferences and meetings; his keynote presentation on change can be adapted for workshops, after dinner and TED-style. He says:
“I’ve worked alongside the events business for 15 years and understand how to use humour as a tool to engage audiences, delight sponsors and add value to an event. Today, events must compete to deliver connection, meaning and ROI to stakeholders.”
