After starting rowing in 2008, Helen Glover had a remarkable rise in the sport. She won the UK’s first Gold Medal at the London Olympic Games, and at the same time claimed British Rowing’s first ever female Gold Medal.
In spite of a temporary change of partner, she remained undefeated through the whole 4 year cycle to the Rio Olympic Games where she went on to successfully defend her Gold medal with Heather Stanning.
Taking time out from her sport, Glover has continued to challenge herself at the highest levels. She appeared in a BBC World series about Japan with husband environmentalist Steve Backshall, competed in the “Devizes To Westminster” canoe race to save part of the Borneo rainforest, captained the Brain & Spine Foundation Team at the 2017 London Marathon, all along with a full schedule of regular television commitments.
