Only seven years later, Borussia Dortmund is the only market-listed football club in Germany, German football champion, Cup Winner, Champions League finalist and practically debt-free.
Over many years, Hans-Joachim Watzke (born 1959) was head of Watex, a medium-sized company founded by him. In 2005 the football fan has become CEO of Borussia Dortmund and therefore left the management of Watex.
Hans-Joachim Watzke restructured and streamlined the football club consequently and by means of a rigid cuts plan and a smart financial plan, he set the course for Borussia’s successful future.
