Biography

Georgie Barrat is a technology journalist and consumer expert who’s spent her career unpacking how the latest innovations shape our everyday lives. She’s best known for presenting The Gadget Show and Shop Smart Save Money on Channel 5, as well as appearing as a regular contributor on BBC’s Morning Live. Georgie also frequently steps in to host live broadcasts of Jeremy Vine and Storm Huntley on Channel 5 and has worked across ITV Tonight and BBC’s Rip Off Britain.

A trusted voice on breaking tech stories, she regularly contributes to ITV News, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 5 Live, offering insights drawn from her first-hand experience with everything from AI and cutting-edge computing to enterprise data centres and cloud technologies. In 2024, she fronted an ITN Business programme exploring how digital tools are transforming education, spotlighting the fast-evolving world of EdTech. Beyond reviewing gadgets and apps, Georgie is fascinated by how technology is reshaping the way we live, work and what AI means for our future. Her keynote talks on emerging tech trends have taken her to global stages including Web Summit, Mobile World Congress and
Smart City Expo, as well as to audiences at Google, Mastercard, IBM, Sony, Huawei and BAFTA.

A passionate advocate for women in technology, Georgie works with organisations such as Girls in ICT, the IET and Childnet to make STEM and the digital world more inclusive, inspiring and safe. She also uses her social platforms to help people navigate online safety and the challenges of parenting in the digital age. Georgie has hosted several podcasts, including The Tech Disruption Series featuring interviews with start-ups redefining industries and Lloyds Banking Group’s No Ordinary Tech.

As well as Sleep Life, a light-hearted look at one of her favourite topics. Never one to back down from a challenge, she holds the world record for the longest continuous VR session (26.5 hours), has run the London Marathon, and even bungee-jumped while wearing a VR headset. Authentic, curious and engaging, Georgie combines journalistic rigour with an approachable style that helps audiences make sense of an ever-changing world.
