One of the country’s most decorated footballers, David Seaman remains a very popular and respected figure in the world game. In 1997, he was awarded and MBE for his services to the sport.
David is a genuine and warm personality who is always great company. Audiences revel in hearing his stories and insights from his days as a top tier sportsperson, as well as his views on the current football/sporting landscape. David also remains a popular brand ambassador and media pundit. He currently enjoys popular weekly podcast ‘Seaman Says’.
When the Rotherham born goalkeeper retired from the game in 2004, (due to a recurring shoulder injury), he had won 75 England caps, making him the second most capped keeper after the legendary Pete Shilton. David made 954 club appearances in all, 563 of them being with Arsenal. David helped Arsenal win three league titles, four FA cups, one League Cup and the European Cup Winners’ Cup. He was England’s number one keeper at the 1998 and 2002 World Cup finals, and was in the squad at the 1990 World Cup finals. Euro ’96 was a high point for David, playing every minute and saving penalties.
David began his playing career when he joined Peterborough in 1982. He also played for Birmingham City and Queens Park Rangers before Manager George Graham took him to Arsenal. He then went on to make 26 league and cup appearances for Manchester City before hanging up his boots and gloves.
When not enjoying his passion for fishing, David assists the young keepers at Arsenal and supports charities such as the Willow Foundation and the British Heart Foundation.
