Dame Claire is an award-winning nurse, peace worker, and is recognized as one of the most influential female nurses of all time, her work in Ethiopia in 1984 inspired Band Aid and subsequently Live Aid, the biggest relief program ever mounted. Currently an Assistant Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine she hopes to inspire the next generation by sharing her extraordinary experiences and the lessons learned along the way. Dame Claire’s many awards include the Florence Nightingale Medal, Woman of the Year Window to the World award, and International Human Rights and Nursing Award.
