Biography

Dr Claire Dale is an award-winning author, international keynote speaker, and pioneer in the science of Physical Intelligence — the ability to harness the body’s physiology and neurochemistry to think, feel, and perform at our best. She coined the phrase in 2002, establishing Physical Intelligence as the “third intelligence” alongside IQ and EQ.

Her book Physical Intelligence (Simon & Schuster, 2019) won Business Book of the Year 2020 and has been translated worldwide after a bidding war between major publishers. Drawing on over 21 years as a coach, facilitator, and thought leader, Claire’s work integrates neuroscience, physiology, and movement into a methodology that is transforming leadership and wellbeing across the globe.

Claire’s perspective is deeply personal. She spent 15 years as a choreographer and artistic director, leading her own contemporary dance company and representing Great Britain at international festivals. At the same time, she grew up alongside her sister, who lives with profound physical disability. This paradox — living both the power and the limits of the body — has shaped her life’s work: helping people access greater possibility through the body.

As founder of the Physical Intelligence Institute, Claire and her team train hundreds of coaches and leaders annually through their ICF-accredited “Coaching with Physical Intelligence” certification. She has designed and led flagship programmes for organisations including RADA, Coca-Cola, JP Morgan, Shell, HSBC, and Google — and has even taught Ed Sheeran to dance.

A Fellow of the Institute of Organisational Neuroscience and certified Master Practitioner in Neuroplasticity, Claire’s doctoral research is on the neurophysiology of personal flexibility and its link to organisational agility. A regular BBC contributor, she inspires audiences worldwide with keynotes that blend compelling science, personal story, and live movement demonstrations — leaving people informed, energised, and transformed.
