Christian Toon is a modern and engaging security leader with a 20 year history in cyber and information security that has involved working with both post and pre-breach organisations across the world. This experience has allowed him to contribute critical, Board level cyber resilience strategies for S&P 500 and FTSE 100 businesses that understand what security risks apply to market leading digital businesses and how they can manage them.
As a security executive of the last 10 years, working with some of the leading names in industry to enable businesses to operate securely and protect their bottom line, Toon has carved out a niche for building leading cyber functions and developing organisations security culture. Toon’s professional experience was specifically enhanced with a tenure with one of the worlds leading professional services firms (Big4) where he spent considerable time working in the UK Financial Services industry helping insurers and banks navigate some key strategic cyber initiatives. These include: Redesigning security strategy, remediating breach response plans, working to resolve, ransomware incidents, Data Loss Prevention Strategy and commercialising cyber security.
More recently, Toon has taken a role of ‘Chief Information Security Officer’ at an international professional services firm, where he has been charged with securing the future of the organisation and its clients, through education, transparency and trust. This approach has been pushing the boundaries of a ‘people centric’ security program to ensure positive cultural change with regards to secure behaviours.
Toon continues to grow his career from his time attending the UK’s National School of Government to learn about Information Security, through to his recent Board membership on the National Cyber Resilience Leaders Board, that helps advise, support and challenge to the Scottish Government as they help Scotland’s people, businesses and public sector to improve their cyber resilience. Ensuring specific focus on communications skills that help Toon deliver engaging and dynamic delivery in a traditional keynote address to upwards of 500 people or virtual experiences where attendance hits into 4 figures. Being media trained by some of the finest journalists and presenters to come out of the BBC has really set him apart from others in this field.
