Biography

Caroline Daniel is a partner in the London office, advising clients on strategic communications challenges, ranging from major crises, critical issues, technology IPOs to ongoing corporate reputation building and thought leadership. Her clients range from FTSE 100 businesses such as Rolls-Royce and Hargreaves Lansdown, through to working with entrepreneurs and founders, such as Helsing.ai and DeepMind.

She also leads on advising on communications around artificial intelligence, including narrative development, media engagement and issues management. She joined Brunswick in 2016 from the Financial Times where she held a senior editorial positions over 17 years including: Editor of the Weekend FT from 2010-2016, overseeing all editorial content and strategy, launching new digital products and events, such as the Weekend FT Festival; Editor of the FT’s Opinion Page during the financial crisis, working closely with FT columnists and external opinion writers; White House correspondent; Chicago correspondent and Tech correspondent.

Caroline Daniel held editorial roles at the Economist, New Statesman and as a Laurence Stern fellow at the Washington Post. She was previously research assistant to Gordon Brown MP in 1994-5. She graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in History. Caroline has been a frequent moderator at global technology and geopolitical events, including WebSummit, CogX, Founders Forum and the Trilateral Commission, as well as a commentator on broadcast including CNN, the BBC and Radio 4.

Caroline Daniel holds a number of private and public service positions including: independent member of the Nick Serota review of the BBC (2021) into corporate governance in the wake of the Martin Bashir inquiry and now Independent member of the BBC’s Board committee: the Editorial Governance and Standards Committee; UK member of the Trilateral Commission, a distinguished global group of CEOs, senior policy advisors and government officials; Advisory Board member for the Samuel Johnson Prize for Non-Fiction, Britain’s leading prize for non-fiction; Trustee of Stansted Park, a charity overseeing a country Estate; and of The Trampery, a social enterprise; and advisory member of Tortoise’s Responsible AI Forum.
