Biography

Andoni Luis Aduriz is one of the most influential chefs of our time, recognised globally for his unwavering commitment to creativity, innovation, and the cross-pollination of disciplines in the kitchen. His career has been defined by an insatiable curiosity and a constant quest which have led him to expand the boundaries of gastronomy, resulting in his being named by Forbes magazine as one of the world’s 100 most creative people.

Born in 1971 in San Sebastián, the epicentre of contemporary cuisine, he came to gastronomy almost by chance but quickly discovered it to be a space for boundless exploration. After training at the Guipúzcoa Catering School, his time at Ferran Adrià’s El Bulli was crucial in understanding cooking as a field of infinite possibilities.

In 1998, he started his own journey with the creation of Mugaritz, a project which soon became an international benchmark due to its capacity for innovation and its open perspective on worlds beyond the purely culinary. With 2 Michelin stars, Mugaritz has been the only restaurant able to remain in the top 10 best restaurants in the world according to The World’s 50 Best Restaurants for more than 14 consecutive years.

Committed to the dissemination of knowledge, Andoni is a founding patron of the Basque Culinary Center, has delivered lectures at institutions such as Harvard and MIT, is part of the Governing Board of Innobasque, and participates as an innovation and creativity mentor at the Madrid Culinary Campus (MACC) alongside Ferran Adrià. His work is situated at the intersection between gastronomy, science, creativity, and the challenges of future food.
