He worked for numerous companies before starting his own consulting and engineering services company. After this was acquired he joined a multinational enterprise software company called Novell, moving to the USA where he spent 6 and a half years working at their head office. He played a significant role in the open source software arena in the USA and later returned to South Africa to assume the role of country manager for Novell South Africa. He went on to become the CEO for Google Africa and Sub Sahara.
