Soiya Gecaga is the Founder and Managing Director of The Vale School Muthaiga, a first of its’ kind progressive, values-based school in Nairobi, Kenya, that focuses on providing a holistic education. Growth Mindset, Environmental Stewardship, Mindfulness, Well-Being, Project-based learning and 21st Century Skills are at the heart of the school’s curriculum framework.
She is also the Founder and Executive Director of “We the Change” Foundation, an organisation that provides education, care and support to children and the families of children who are suffering from or who have suffered from adverse childhood experiences.
Soiya has worked as a solicitor in the United Kingdom, specialising in charity law for Bates Wells and Braithwaite and as a solicitor specialising in corporate law for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Soiya Gecaga has also worked for The United Nations High Commission for Human Rights in Geneva, Nyumbani, an orphanage for children with HIV/AIDS in Kenya, and Mother Teresa’s home for the destitute and dying in Calcutta. She is also an Acumen Fund East Africa Fellow(Class of 2012) and a Metis Fellow (Class of2017/2018).
Soiya Gecaga was born and lives in Kenya. She graduated from Philips Academy, Andover(Massachusetts) and holds a MA Honours degree in Modern History from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
