Sanjay Modak is a “Rainmaker” global executive with a standout record of achievement in the high-tech sector.
Sanjay Modak has held eminent positions in business development, P&L operations, strategy and marketing, as well as advisory and consulting services through the course of his career. Most notably, he founded, nurtured and grew Asia Pacific operations for AT&T Corporation establishing distribution channels in 13 countries in the region, increasing sales from zero to US$60M in less than three years and achieving EBITDA profitability. Under his leadership, AT&T achieved the number 2 market share position, overcoming entrenched cutthroat competition.
Among his many achievements, he has turned around two cellular and two satellite Asian joint ventures suffering from declining revenues, poor management and highly politicized environments during his tenure with Telstra Corporation Ltd. He also founded Pulse Media Ltd’s telecommunications consulting practice, obtained Indonesia’s first 3G cellular licence and set up a highly competitive network infrastructure for a client while overcoming substantial government resistance and diminishing internal optimism.
Having spent over 20 years working in Asia, Dr Modak is deeply familiar with the economics, politics, markets and workings of countries and regions such as Greater China, Southeast Asia, Australasia and Japan. He also established businesses for AT&T in Mexico and Venezuela and advised clients in Paraguay. Dr Modak started his career with Bell Laboratories in the USA, where he pioneered work in econometric forecasting.
Sanjay Modak is currently Managing Director with Pulse Media Ltd where he is involved with advisory and consulting services to telecom and software clients across India and Asia in business development as well as sales and marketing strategies.
