Ray Eitel-Porter is a globally-recognised expert in AI governance, safety and ethics. He is an author, speaker, Senior Adviser for Responsible AI to Accenture, and provides independent consulting.
Ray advises on how organisations can build trust in AI. His expertise covers principles and policy, governance, areas of risk (such as bias, explainability, reliability and sustainability), mitigations, skills and capabilities, and supporting platforms and technologies. As Global Head of Responsible AI at Accenture, Ray led projects to help many organisations across industries and the public sector scale their use of AI with confidence. Clients included a global bank, a global retailer and a major health brand, with multi-year programmes.
He led the design and build of Accenture’s pioneering internal AI compliance programme covering 750,000 employees in 120 countries. This gave him unique experience in implementing AI governance across a hugely complex global organisation. Beyond the theory, he has deep hands-on experience of the challenges – and solutions – for embedding responsible AI principles and effective mitigations across an organisation. Prior to this, Ray ran Accenture’s Data and AI business in the UK.
Ray is Senior Research Associate for Responsible AI at the Intellectual Forum, Jesus College, Cambridge, and has led ethical AI research collaborations with Stanford, MIT, The Alan Turing Institute and the Institute for AI Ethics at Oxford University.
In addition to having lived and worked in the UK, US, Germany and France, Ray has worked extensively in Asia and the Gulf.
