Biography

Parm Sandhu is former Chief Superintendent, Advocate for Women’s Rights, Author and Speaker. Parm was the first and only Asian Female Chief Superintendent of the Metropolitan Police Service. She is a trailblazer whose extraordinary journey has broken barriers and paved the way for transformative change. Her distinguished career in law enforcement and a fervent commitment to advocating for women’s rights and diversity have made a significant impact in both the media and society.

Parm exemplified exceptional leadership and dedication to public service during her more than three decades in the police force, retiring in 2020. Her tenure is marked by a legacy of achievement and empowerment, particularly in advocating for women and raising awareness about violence against women and girls.

Beyond her policing career, Parm Sandhu has become a prominent figure in the media. Her authenticity and resilience stem from her personal experiences, depicted in her memoir ‘Black and Blue’ about growing up in a multilingual household as one of six children, navigating the challenges of forced marriage, and enduring domestic violence.
