“The current of the river of life will always try to pull you towards the middle, towards complacency and mediocrity. This is true for every person and every company. It’s a problem because other companies that don’t give in to that current will eclipse you.”
Kasanoff’s new book, A Touch of the Madness How to Be More Innovative in Work and Life…by Being a Little Crazy comes out later this year from BenBella books via Penguin/Random house. His main keynote speech is based on this unique philosophy.
As a graduate of Cornell and The Wharton School of Business, Kasanoff serves as a Rosetta Stone between the corporate landscape and Hollywood, using examples, stories and lessons learned from the film industry to instill outside-the-box thinking regarding innovation to corporate audiences.
A born storyteller, Kasanoff’s uses star-studded anecdotes from his life in Hollywood to make it easy and entertaining for business audiences to learn to be more creative by being a bit crazy.

Larry has operated at the nexus of technology and entertainment for decades, achieving a lot of ‘firsts’ innovated with technology and entertainment:
-First movie to extensively use morphing (Terminator 2 – also interesting because of its theme about the evils of AI which he gets asked about all the time now) which started the digital filmmaking revolution;
-First hit movie from a video game (Mortal Kombat) which started the craze of video game based movies; and
-First moving 3D shot (Star Trek The Borg Adventure), which started resurgence of 3D movies, and more.
So, he is well suited to talk about innovation and AI.
Spoiler alert – he thinks AI provides terrific opportunities for businesses, and he is already incorporating it into his.
This also covers his views on how to best use technology to help achieve your objective.
Forget about supply chain hiccups and clogged shipping lines. Technology now raises globalization to a new level because one can create for the world and create with the world.
Using a case study from his recent animated feature film for Universal, Bobbleheads, starring Cher, Larry Kasanoff explains how, with the help of new tech from Microsoft and Nvidia, they created a worldwide production platform that included artists, animators, and technical experts in the US, Nepal and all over India.
Not only did it withstand the pandemic and two cyclones, but it allowed the filmmakers to infuse into the movie the cultural aspects of all these countries. So globalization is also now inclusive and diversification.
