Entrepreneur, angel investor and author specialising in virtual and augmented reality, AI, music and creative industries, Jeremy Silver is the author of “Towards a Digital Renaissance”, a study of the relationship between innovation, entrepreneurship and investment.
He is currently CEO of Digital Catapult. This former industry exec (EMI and Virgin) witnessed the digital evolution of the music industry first-hand. He understands digital disruption and knows how to turn it to advantage. As an advisor to the founders of Shazam (acquired by Apple) and co-founder of Uplister, the world’s first playlist-sharing music subscription service and CEO of Sibelius Software, the music notation software, he’s lived the development and impact of innovative business models.
Appointed to the Board of the British Library, an Industry Fellow at Glasgow University, he’s also a non-executive director of several early stage companies in music and AI, a member of the UK Creative Industries Council and chair of its Innovation and R&D sub-group, and a member of the UK government’s Digital Economy Council. He advises on Government policy, champions the adoption of advanced digital technology in industry and is an inspiring and entertaining speaker for those working in the creative industries and associated sectors.
His book “Digital Medieval” is a history of the music industry online. He has spoken at TEDx Houses of Parliament, the CBI, SXSW and Midem among many trade events. He is an Industry Fellow at the University of Glasgow.
