Hatim Rahman is one of the foremost experts on issues at the intersection of new technology, change management, and leadership. After receiving his PhD in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, he joined Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. Since joining Northwestern, Rahman’s research and teaching on Artificial Intelligence have won some of the most prestigious international awards including being named as one of the best 40 business school professors under 40 years of age by Poets & Quants, National Science Foundation CAREER award, and Thinkers50 Radar list.
His best-selling book, Inside the Invisible Cage: How Algorithms Control Workers(University of California Press), investigates how digital labor platform organizations use algorithms to transform the nature of work. The book has been awarded the 2025 George R. Terry Book Award by the Academy of Management, the 2025 Responsible Research in Management Award (Distinguished Winner), and the 2025 McGannon Book, as well as recognized as a finalist for the EGOS Book Award (European Group of Organization Science), received Axiom Business Book Award’s Silver Medal in the “Independent Thought Leadership” category, and shortlisted for Thinkers50 Radar Award.
