Biography

Former principal conductor of the Her Majesty the Queen’s Household Division and Lieutenant Colonel, Graham Jones has an extensive career as an inspiring leader, motivator and conductor who is much in demand as a guest conductor, clinician and lecturer across the globe. Recently he has been Inspiring musicians and audiences alike in the USA, Sweden, Germany, Latvia, Norway and Belgium to name but a few. Graham has recently been appointed Director of Music of the Zurich Tattoo in Switzerland and Musical Director for Waterloo 200 a pan European event to be held in 2015.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Jones has had a long and accomplished career spanning more than four decades. A former Lieutenant Colonel, he began his career in the Royal Artillery Band where he studied with renowned harpist Maria Korchinska. In the early 1980s Warrant Officer Class One. Jones completed bandmaster coursework at the Royal Military School of Music. After serving as Bandmaster of 16th/5th The Queens’ Royal Lancers, he went on to hold appointments including Director of Music for the Lowland Band of the Scottish Division and the Band of the Light Division before being appointed Director of the prestigious Coldstream Guards and the Senior Director of Music, Household Division, a position unequaled in military music.
Through the medium of music and stories of his extensive career,especially behind the scenes of major national ceremonial events such as Trooping the Colour, Royal Weddings, Royal Funerals and the Cenotaph parade to name but a few, this vibrant and inspirational speaker takes you, with his boundless energy and enthusiasm, on an outstanding journey of how to lead and inspire where “failure is not an option”

 

Graham’s anecdotes will make you laugh but the entire experience will leave the audience with inspiring messages of innovational teamwork and leadership through the art of conducting, training and performing on stage as both an internationally acclaimed conductor and teacher.

 

After a glittering career spanning almost 40 years of service. Now, having started his second career, Graham is as busy as ever conducting, adjudicating and organising music events around the world. He is also much in demand as a band trainer and clinician.
