Destiny Ayo Vaughan, a recent graduate from the University of Aberdeen, holds an MSc in Psychological Studies and a Bachelor’s honours degree in Social Science, both as a scholarship recipient. She also obtained a Level Five qualification in Early Childhood Education.
Continuing her academic journey, Destiny received a scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in clinical health psychology at Queen’s University.
In 2019, she founded Mind the Gap Ireland (MTGI), the country’s first anonymous story platform for survivors of sexual violence, creating a supportive community that aids hundreds annually while amplifying silenced voices.
Recognized for her social entrepreneurship, Destiny was awarded a place in the 2023 Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Ideas Academy and the shegenerates program for all female founders in Ireland. She was also selected as a delegate for the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68). Her achievements extend beyond academia and activism; Destiny is featured in Dr. Sam Collins’ book “Rebellious” and was honored as Activist of the Year at the Black And Irish Gala Awards.
Notably, her visionary leadership led to her recognition among the “50 Ones to Watch” in 2023 by the Irish Independent and a nomination for the Goss.ie Women of the Year for her impactful social contributions.
