Biography

Damla Hekimoğlu is a proven journalistic all-rounder: Whether in front of or behind the camera – the people-opener is versatile and plays a wide range of journalistic and thematic roles, including at virtual events and online conferences. 

Damla Hekimoğlu is news presenter for „Tagesschau24“ of ARD German Public Broadcasting where she is covering breaking news and all kinds of newsworthy events. The ARD is with 22.000 employees one of the world’s largest broadcast organizations and Germany’s market leader in hard news, news magazines and documentaries. Damla is also working as a multilingual investigative journalist and reporter for the West German Broadcasting WDR. With her (live) reports, moderations and interviews, she has already stood in front of the cameras of PHOENIX of ARD and ZDF, WDR and the BBC. She reports on politics, world affairs and social events. For the german research cooperation WDR, NDR and Sueddeutsche Zeitung she is also involved in investigative research on a project-by-project basis.

She studied English and Romance languages and literature as well as Communication at Duesseldorf’s Heinrich-Heine-University, in which she holds a master’s degree.

As a board member of the Harvard Club Rhein-Main and founder of the international talk series “Harvard Club Talks”, she interviews high-profile guests from politics, business, science and society in both virtual and analog formats. She moderates intellectual panel discussions and talks in multilingual German, English and Turkish. 

As the daughter of Turkish parents, Damla Hekimoğlu grew up in Germany and studied English and Romance languages and literature as well as Communication at Duesseldorf’s Heinrich-Heine-University, in which she holds a master’s degree with a study visit to Harvard University. She completed a journalistic apprenticeship program (Volontariat) at West German Broadcasting WDR in Cologne. 

Damla Hekimoğlu is committed to volunteering for the education of our children. On the board of the Harvard Alumni Club in Rhine-Main and for foundations, she volunteers her time to promote media literacy and encourage young talent among socially disadvantaged children and young people.
