Basak Unalan worked as the Chief London Correspondent for Bloomberg HT from end of 2015 until the beginning of 2020. During that time, Bloomberg HT was the only financial broadcast platform in Turkey with television, radio and web presence. She reported about the European markets as well as financial, political and business developments across the Eurozone and the UK on a daily basis. As an experienced news editor, she was responsible for researching, writing and editing her own content for daily live hits, with a focus on market movers.
In addition, Basak periodically hosted and interviewed business leaders, politicians, market strategists and economists in the Bloomberg London studios. During these targeted interviews, she aimed to cover a wide range of industries and sectors from technology to communications to art, approaching each topic from an economical and financial perspective.
Furthermore, Basak Unalan covered the Brexit Referendum and elections in the Eurozone. Standing in as the BloombergHT reporter for breaking news in Europe and UK, Basak followed the Brexit period closely from 2016 to 2020.
Prior her Bloomberg HT Chief London Correspondent role in London, Basak has worked as the Assistant Production Manager in Eurosport Turkey in Istanbul. She pioneered as the only female sports commentator in Turkey from 2006 to 2014.
Basak has served as a critical Turkish speaking News Editor, Commentator and Presenter at Eurosport Turkey with over 2000 hours live commentary. She worked as a Production Manager during the on-site broadcasting of 2011 & 2012 WTA Championships, 2012 World Indoor Athletics Championships, 2012 World Short Course Swimming Championships, and 2013 FIFA U- 20 World Cup.
Basak Unalan has a Masters degree in TV Journalism from the Goldsmiths University of London.
