Dr. Ariel Colonomos earned a degree in business and administration from the University of Paris-Dauphine and a degree in philosophy from the University of Paris X. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (IEP).
During his career, Ariel Colonomos served as a coordinator for the “Monde” book series and serves on the editorial board of International Political Sociology.
He teaches at Sciences Po both in the undergrad and the doctoral programs. Dr. Ariel Colonomos is also a regular visiting scholar at Columbia University’s Institute of War and Peace and authored several publications on the ethics of international relations and the preventative use of force. He has also studied the role of predictive ideas in international relations. His new research program focuses on “valuing life”; he studies dilemmas of hostage taking negotiations and the uses of proportionality.
