Dr. Andrea Wilkinson is the founder and CEO of Brain Shape Inc. – an online platform for people who want to enhance their mental health, physical vibrancy and energy. She has been researching brain health, stress management, ageing, and cognitive maintenance for the past 20 years.
Since completing her doctorate, Dr. Andrea has worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Bridgepoint Collaboratory for Research and Innovation, the Ontario Long Term Care Association, and in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Andrea is the host of the BrainShape Podcast – a weekly show that covers the latest brain health research and shares interviews with experts in the field of health, mental wellbeing and psychology.
Dr. Andrea shares her knowledge through public speaking at national and international conferences, and community events. Her expertise and background in psychology, brain plasticity and mental performance has enabled her to give insightful and action-inspiring talks orientating around giving people the power and tools to reach their optimal brain function. She dives into important complex issues such as emotional distress and performance as well as exploring burnout, sleep problems, lack of stress management and over stimulation
Mental-wellbeing can be difficult to navigate in this modern world therefore, it is important to acknowledge these prevalent topics and implement ways in which to combat them. She covers the power of “identifying boundaries of comfort” and “leaving the comfort zone”. We all have inherent resilience, Dr. Andrea helps people empower theirs.
Through her BrainShape.ca platform, Dr. Andrea promotes brain health across four key pillars: physical fitness, food and nutrition, sleep and stress management. She uses a personalised approach to promote healthy ageing and sustainable behaviour change inside the Brain Vitality Method (her signature methodology for optimising health, wellness and vibrancy throughout the ageing process).
Dr. Andrea Wilkinson has a Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology & Psychology from McMaster University (2006), a Master’s degree in Psychology from Ryerson University (2009) and a Ph.D. in Psychology from Ryerson University (2014).
